Q:

What are the risks if adult-onset scoliosis is not diagnosed?

A:

If you have scoliosis and it is not diagnosed, you could experience serious effects to your health. If your scoliosis developed in your adult years, an underlying cause such as a tumour, needs to be ruled out. Adult-onset scoliosis can also get worse at a faster pace than in younger people so it is important to identify your scoliosis and start monitoring it for changes..

Q:

How is arthroscopic surgery performed on the shoulder?

A:

Arthroscopic surgery is performed by inserting a special camera device (arthroscope) into a joint through a small incision in the skin. The arthroscope allows images of the inside of your joint to be magnified so the surgeon can see what is going on. If a repair is needed to the soft tissue of your joint, other small incisions can be made in the skin to allow the appropriate instruments to be inserted and used to make the repair.
