Can my polymyalgia rheumatica be cured?

A:

Polymyalgia rheumatica can be treated once it is diagnosed and, in most people that develop this condition, it is generally resolved within 12-36 months. Q:

What are the medications used to prevent gout?

A:

If you are prone to repeat gout attacks, you may benefit from medication to help prevent repeat episodes. A medication called Allopurinol is a common drug used to block production of more uric acid to allow your body to process the excess. Probenecid is another drug that helps the kidneys get rid of the excess uric acid. If you have questions about your gout treatment, you can ask your family doctor.

Q:

Why should an Achilles tendon rupture be treated immediately?

A:

If you think you have injured the tendons in your ankle it is a good idea to be checked by a doctor. Some tendon ruptures can be corrected with various surgical and non-surgical methods, however if you wait a while and are walking around with a ruptured tendon the surrounding muscles can become weak and may influence how well your ankle can be corrected.
